James Burchenal

Wealth Manager for UBS

James Burchenal has built a career across several practical fields, including finance, sales, education, real estate, and construction. Based in Cincinnati, he has developed experience in client service, business growth, negotiation, and operations. His work today as a business owner reflects the skills he has gained through years of serving clients, managing responsibilities, and adapting to new professional settings.

Building the Foundation: Academic and Early Experiences

James earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Hampden-Sydney College. His coursework in intermediate macroeconomic and microeconomic theory helped him understand markets, financial systems, and business decisions. This education became useful as he moved into roles involving finance, sales, real estate, and ownership.

During college, James also played varsity lacrosse and was a member of Sigma Chi. These activities gave him experience with teamwork, time management, and discipline. They also helped him develop habits that supported his early career.

His first exposure to finance came through an investment internship at UBS Financial Services. He worked with a top institutional consulting team and reviewed client accounts ranging from $1 million to over $25 million. His duties included account review and recommendations, giving him a closer look at portfolio strategy, risk assessment, and financial judgment.

From Sales Floors to Global Classrooms

James later worked at Cincinnati Bell as an Outside Sales Manager. In this role, he focused on new business, untapped markets, and customer relationships. His work helped him secure approximately 50 new clients each month. This gave him practical experience in outreach, communication, and follow-through.

James then moved into education by teaching English in Prague, Czech Republic. He taught more than 500 students weekly across multiple schools. He prepared customized lesson plans, worked with educators, and communicated with parents. This international teaching role required patience, planning, and the ability to work with people from different backgrounds.

After returning to the United States, James joined Kreller Group as a professional sales representative and account manager. His work included customer acquisition, territory growth, and advising companies on credit and risk management practices. He also handled commercial credit reports and investigations while exceeding sales quotas and supporting complex client needs.

Real Estate and Client-Focused Strategy

In 2015, James Burchenal became a licensed realtor with Comey and Shepherd. He worked with buyers and sellers, analyzed properties, coordinated showings, and negotiated contracts. His portfolio included properties ranging from $50,000 to $1.2 million.

Real estate allowed James to combine market review with direct client support. He helped clients compare options, understand property details, and move through important transactions. His work required careful communication, attention to financial interests, and steady guidance during buying and selling decisions.

James also created targeted marketing materials and stayed connected with clients through newsletters and direct outreach. These efforts helped support long-term relationships and business development. As a realtor, he focused on clear service, trust, and practical results.

Entrepreneurship and Construction Leadership

In 2022, James became co-owner of Monture Construction LLC in Mariemont, Ohio. This role brought together his experience in sales, negotiation, real estate, and operations. His responsibilities include overseeing projects, managing client relationships, and helping guide the company’s direction.

Construction leadership gave James a way to apply his knowledge of property, client expectations, and project details. At Monture Construction LLC, he works in a setting that requires organization, communication, and problem-solving. His past roles help him approach projects from both a business and client-focused perspective.

Community Engagement and Personal Interests

James has also been involved in community service. He served as a counselor with United Way’s Stepping Stones program, supporting students with disabilities through camp activities and daily involvement. This work required patience, care, and responsibility.

Earlier, he worked as a ranch hand at Two Creek Ranch in Montana, where he helped manage livestock and land across a large-scale operation. In his personal life, Burchenal enjoys hockey, rock climbing, camping, fly fishing, bird hunting, traveling, and weight training.

A Career Defined by Versatility and Execution

James Burchenal’s career shows steady development across different industries. From finance and sales to education, real estate, and construction, he has continued to use clear communication, practical thinking, and client-focused service.

His work reflects an ability to learn from each role and apply that experience to the next. Today, through business ownership and construction leadership, James continues to focus on responsible work, strong relationships, and dependable execution.
